Handball - the Next Generation: The Hinder Club's Youth Handball Clinic

The St. Louis Hinder Club recently held a successful Youth Handball Clinic aimed at introducing and building interest in the sport among local youth. The event, held on May 10th at the (Arnold) St. Louis Hinder Club saw an enthusiastic turnout with participants aged 3 to 15.

The clinic was part of the club’s ongoing efforts to promote handball. The St. Louis Hinder Club, renowned for its dedication to the sport and community engagement, with help from the MSHA and the USHA providing all of the necessary equipment and coaching staff for free, ensured accessibility for all interested young athletes.

Experienced coaches and club members led the clinic, beginning with a brief overview of handball and its rules. The participants were then divided into groups, where they engaged in a variety of drills designed to develop fundamental skills. There were also friendly short court matches, allowing the young players to put their newly acquired skills into practice in a fun, competitive environment.

Club members expressed their excitement about the event’s success. “We are thrilled to see so many young people interested in handball. Our goal is to foster a love for the sport and provide opportunities for youth to develop their skills and enjoy the many benefits of physical activity.”

The St. Louis Hinder Club will continue to host Youth Handball events as we move into our new facility, with hopes of expanding it further in the coming years. We are also intending to add a youth division to the Club's league, to provide regular opportunities for young players to compete and improve their skills.

Big thank you to our Club Youth Coaches Kevin Pettus & Chris Meyer, for your expertise and time spent supporting the Youth Clinic. Thank you to Eric Hillgren with the Missouri State Handball Association for putting the clinic together, as well as the United States Handball Association for providing the youth equipment! Lastly, a special thank you to the Feilner family for gathering such a great group of kids to learn the sport, as well as all of the players and parents that came out to support! We look forward to having everyone out for our next event! Keep an eye out for upcoming events and clinics!
